The Mycoguild is an international non-profit corporation which was founded to unite the scientific community, patent holders, governments, corporations and the legal community to further the use of mycology for environmental remediation.
Simply put, mycoremediation involves the use of fungi to biodegrade environmental contaminants. At Mycoguild, our goal is to mitigate the barriers to the application of mycotechnology, further the growth of the science, and further public awareness and mycotechnology education.

Dig out the trees, dirt and all living organisms and move them to a toxic waste dump.. |
| · |
Bury the toxins under layers of concrete that can break and leak over time |
| · |
Introduce organisms that break down the toxins and restore natural balance |
It seems that the natural solution is best, right? Unfortunately, the way in which patents for natural remediation are awarded create legal and logistical barriers that prevent the use of fungi as a natural remediation method. How do we fix this?
We can stop silting and sedimentation of rivers and estuaries by covering mineral earth with a mix of wood chip, mushroom spawn, non-seeding grasses and native plants. This is a crucial step in saving Salmon habitat. Fungi are key in the environmental future of our rivers and the next step to integrating good forestry practices.
